History
The drive-inn complex was built on Isaac Ramba street in Tel-Aviv. The complex served as a huge parking lot in which movies were projected on a 30 meter wide screen, and the viewers watched the movies from their cars. Over the years countless movies were played in the drive-in, until the year 2000 when it was decided to close the complex.

The Tel-Aviv- Yafo Municipality decides to build the Drive-Inn arena, to be used as a multi-purpose sports hall, and which would mostly serve as the Hapoel Tel-Aviv basketball club’s home court.
The first event in the arena: even before the inner finishing works in the hall were complete, the hall hosted the “Fresh Paint” art fair, sponsored by the Tel-Aviv- Yafo Municipality.

The new arena was inaugurated on December 24, 2014 in a festive ceremony in the presence of the mayor of Tel-Aviv- Yafo, Mr. Ron Huldai, senior members of the municipality, and the representatives of the Sport Palaces of Tel Aviv Yafo Company.
The Hapoel SP Tel-Aviv basketball club’s debut game in the arena is held on January 4, 2015 against the Hapoel Jerusalem team. The game ended with a win of 81:67 for Hapoel SP Tel-Aviv.

The Shlomo Group wins the public tender for sponsorship of the arena’s name, and the arena’s name is changed to the “Shlomo Group Arena”. Shlomo Group is one of the leading investment firms in Israel. The Group has investments in a variety of developing branches of industry, in the fields of vehicles, energy, shipping, logistics, real-estate, insurance and media. The group was founded in 1974 by the late Shlomo Shmeltzer as a company that dealt with renting and leasing cars and in providing services to the car industry in Israel. Over the years the Group’s investments expanded to other branches of industry and finance.
